1966 Chevy Truck

POSTED 2/2/2008 - AL
I am the second owner of this 1966 Chevy K20
This was purchased as a restoration /
customized rig for towing a 25 camp trailer.
After the initial trials, the current 283 was too far gone to do the job.
The original 283 had been replaced when I took ownership
and I have since upgraded to to a 350 CID in 2/2000.
It was professionally bored .030 over, has 192 heads, rv cam, Rochester 4 bbl carb.
The engine currently has less than 5000 miles on it.
After replacing the engine, family needs, job change,
and medical expenses forced the project to go on hold for several years
and the travel trailer to be sold. Now, our camping need have changed
and we no longer need this project.
It is in too good of shape to just sit.
The wood bed does need to be replaced, and the pictures show the worst of the rust.
There is a small crack in the passenger windshield.
All 4 hubs have been rebuilt, with new bearings, brakes, seals etc
Front axle is a Dana 44 with heavy duty hubs.
The transfer case is a Rockwell 205. Rear end is an Eaton which is very similar to a Dana
60.
Transmission is a New Process 465
The transmission and transfer case still need to over hauled to seal some leaks,
but function properly.
There are several boxes of parts, that I got from the original owner
and many of the original parts that I have replaced I have kept thinking
I may some day refurbish them. I even have the factory seat cover to be
used as a pattern for a replacement.
Other than the engine and the radio and odometer, to the best of my knowledge the truck is
original.
The original owner told me he replaced the odometer at 250,000
so that needs to be added to the current 32,300
This truck was originally purchased in Anchorage Alaska,
and has been driven to San Diego and back.
The original owner added heavy duty overload leaf springs to the rig for snow plowing.
The front has 7 leafs, and the rear has 11 leafs. It is heavy duty.
The spring bushing have been replaced. The primary rear spring was re-arched.
Many manuals along with 2 factory manuals will be included.
The original split rims were sent to salvage.
