1960 GMC Truck

POSTED 7/3/2007 - SL
RARE BARN FIND--A TRUE SURVIVOR
1960 GMC SHORT BED V-6 (yes, V-6) straight shift ½ ton pickup VIN-PN9700A.
This is a true survivoran all original, numbers matching truck
from the front to the back and could be the best driver on the planet.
Odometer reads 286014-no earthly idea if this is correct or not.
We have tried to photograph all that we could. Here are the details:
1. Exterior color- Originally a GMC Neptune Green with a white top.
The truck is now in primer. We have traced this truck back to Southwest Missouri
and found the granddaughter that inherited the truck her grandfather
bought as a new truck there. We have this information and it goes with the truck.
2. Interior color- Two tone gray. The seat is also two tone grey vinyl and has recently
been professionally redone with a bill of $327.35.
We have included a photo of the interior with and without the new seat
to show you that the truck is clean, clean, clean. The GMC scuff rails shown are in
excellent shape.
3. Power plant305 cubic inch V-6 with a Holley carb.
Certified Gross Horsepower-150, Net-125. Engine Number is 305 A26586.
The A is for the V-6 Engine, and the N in the VIN means it is a 1960 truck,
I am told. Please see photos of the engine and underneath the truck.
We have not driven it and do not know whether it will or will not pass State inspection.
I think it could use some work but since I am not a mechanic,
I am going to leave it at that. There is and has been a large amount of anti-freeze
in the vehicle to protect in cold weather and there is no battery in the truck.
4. TransmissionStraight shift, three on the tree.
5. Body straight, and does not appear to have ever been wrecked
but does need someone to finish out the body work and repaint.
6. Insignia and Parts. We have the orginal instrumental panel
components and these go with the truck. A prior owner apparently
wanted to improve on the looks of the dash. There is a round V-6
insignia for both front fenders. There are the front fenders and renovated gas tank
($175.00 spent) and other parts that include parts to the gas tank.
There is a coffee can full of nuts and bolts for the fenders and seat.
There is an original rear view mirror and a set of West Coast door mirrors.
There is an original GMC gas cap. The West Coast mirrors and windshield wipers,
fenders, renovated gas tanks and tank parts are shown in the photos.
I have been advised that the fenders need patch panels. I am not a body man,
so I am going to leave it at that.
9. Extra Paper Items I have accumulated a decent amount of full color
period ads and literature on the 1960 GMC trucks and this collection goes
with the truck. Better than that, the granddaughter of the original purchaser
sent me the following:
a. Original general Fact Book about 1960 GMC pickups, and
b. Original Operating Manual of the 1960 GMC pickup.
10. Tiresset of Four (4) R15LT tires Please see photos.
11. WheelsWhite steelsee photos of all, please. .
12. Sound system and A/Cno A/C and we do not know if the radio works.
13. Interior components of note: -- extremely clean dash, floor and doors.
14. Seat beltsnone
